Well it has been a while since I bloged. It appears that my bloging habit is a LOT like my journal habits. I like to find reasons not to do it. On the flip side I do like to share the stories and get a chance to brag on my family a bit. Which I do enjoy from others as well. In fact, if you like that stuff, you need to go to Linda Call’s page. I love hers. It has so many fun stories about her family. I need to add her to my list of blog-sites on the right column.
Anyway, back to my stories. Saturday was a special day (yes we did get ready for Sunday). We had several activities to enjoy through out the day. We started with Piano Federation at 8:30 for Jess, 9 for Ashley, and 9:30 for Rachel. They all did great. I did not get to hear Jess, but she was really humorous in her version of the competition. She claims she messed up big time and just started making up parts to the song. She is talented enough she could probably do it and get away with it. Well she must have because she still got 4 of 5 on her rating. Ashley was next. She is so calm in her mannerisms. I thought she could not be more relaxed. That is until she finished. She walked back to her chair and laid her head on the table totally ready to sleep. How does she do it? Rachel finished it up. She was fun because she is a bit more nervous and I feel like I can joke with her to help release the tension and nerves. We did warm ups from High School Musical and had her laughing. Both Ashley and Rachel received Superior or 5 of 5 on the points. Ashley seemed matter of fact about it while Rachel was much more excited. Maybe it’s because she will get her trophy this year (cumulative 15 points).
Afterward we went to soccer games. Rachel had one at the oval and the boys had their first Indoor Games. Tyler is a natural and very competitive. He has good skills and is a very good thinker. You can see him strategizing while he is out on the field. The other team did not have enough players so each half we had 2 kids from our team play on the other team. Tyler switched in the second half. Switching at half was also a strategy for Tyler. He told me after the game he switched because he knew it was his turn to sub on our team and he would not have to if he went on the other team. It was great for him but bad for our team. We would have murdered them if Tyler had not played such good defense. He saved them time after time.
Tanner had his first soccer game ever. He is very fun to watch. He is very into it. All day long he was worried that we would leave on time to make it to his game. When we got there it he was excited and kept checking to make sure we were watching. His face lights up with excitement. It is contagious. Several times the ball broke away from the pack but the kids could not change directions before they passed the goal. Finally Tanner got a ball out of the pack and had enough wits about him to change direction and head to the goal. Sure enough, Tanner scored the first goal of the season. Later, his team mate is dribbling. It looks like he is going to “maybe” get to the goal. Tanner steals the ball and shoots it in the goal. One more time late in the game he got another break away and did direct himself to the goal. Can you believe that, a hat trick in his first game. Even more amazing was he understood to go play defense in front of the goal so the other team could not score. I guess that comes from being around soccer so much with the family. If it was another sport he probably would have looked like any other kid. Sure was fun though.
Of course maybe the best part was that after every goal Tanner would flex his arms and shout, ”OH YEAH”. I guess we need to work on humility. But, still a great day with the family.

I think Humility will come in the later years, as for now I love the flex!!!
I love Tanner. He is so cute. It sounds like he is a ball hog like his dad....lol. I still remember playing soccer against you in the 12th ward and you were dancing around me with the ball....man I hated you. Its a good thing I actually got to know you and think you're pretty neat.
You made my day when you said our blog had funny stories- (you weren't being sarcastic were you?)
I mean I know you like to tease and such--
for the record--let it also be said--
I love to hear about you and karen's family too--
now truth be told you guys are the ones with the fun stories..but thanks for the compliment--to check out my blog--because that made me smile--mostly cause I think my post are "lame-o" but my family has to read them and like them cause they are family--mostly I just put stuff with the hope of keeping my geographically "spread out" family in touch I try to treat it as a "family news letter"
that's why I call it news in a minute
anyhow--glad to know someone find the humor-- or enjoyment there too
PS about the "braggin'" stuff as you put it--I don't mean to do that so much --but I love my fam...and they are just my life
same with you all? --(:
